Info on Eva Movie Release

Manga Entertainment has given some details on their upcoming releases of the Neon Genesis Evangelion movies. They will be using the same cast for the English dub that ADV used for their dub of the television series. The Evangelion movies will be covered in three parts. Evangelion: Death and Rebirth, the first feature, is comprised of two parts. The first part serves to summarize the story told by the television series. The second part is a new story that provides an alternative to the controversial final two episodes of the television series. End of Evangelion continues the story that Death and Rebirth began. This time the movie shows the very disturbing results of the completion of the Human Instrumentality Project. The third feature, Revival of Evangelion, is a combination of Death and Rebirth, and End of Evangelion, recut, with some new material, similar to the treatment in the Macross Plus movie, or Armitage: Polymatrix. Manga is hoping for a limited theatrical run of the features.

ANIME/MOVIES: Evangelion Heads to the Movies

Manga grabs rights to the movies, plans to promote the heck out of them

July 23, 1999

If you're a fan of the Evangelion anime series but were left scratching your head when you watched the last two episodes of the series, never fear, Manga is here! Manga Entertainment has picked up the rights to all three Evangelion movies -- that's Evangelion: Death and Rebirth, The End of Evangelion, and Revival of Evangelion -- with plans to bring them out for their Manga 2000 launch. Expect all three movies to make limited theatrical appearances throughout around the country, complete with the original English cast voicing Shinji and crew.

What to expect out of the movies:

Evangelion: Death and Rebirth

Confused by the last two episodes and their way-engimatic ending? Worry no more! This two part movie summarizes the the entire series and revises the ending to answer a lot of those "Huh's?" you must've uttering towards the end. The "Death" portion summarizes the entire series but adds new scenes and details, while "Rebirth" is entirely new, and helps explain some of those disturbing scenes from the regular episodes. But all of it's a setup for...

The End of Evangelion

End of Evangleion continues where "Rebirth" left off and divulges the whole mystery behind Adam, Lilith, and the Human Instrumentality Project! Without giving too much away, let's just say your world is going to get rocked, and rocked hard by the end of this one because people live, and people die, but nobody's going to be left intact after the Third Impact.

Revival of Evangelion

An amalgation of the first two movies. It put's 'em together, recuts scenes, adds a few new ones and voila! Third movie. Sort of like the way the Macross Plus OAVs and the Macross Plus movie turned out.

While we can't say too much without giving it all away, you can definitely expect a lot more action, some gratuitous and sometimes uncomfortable sex scenes, and much, much more.

You still might end up scratching your head, though...
